9 Adsense Tricks

Adsense Trick 1

This Adsense trick might even be bordering on Adwords trick territory, but here goes anyway. When you create an Adwords advert, you can specify what URLs you want your ad to appear on in the content network. In other words, if you know of a very popular site in your niche, you could try and direct some of its traffic to your site by specifying that your ad will appear on that site only. Your advert will appear as typical Adsense that visitors can click on and for which the owner of that site will get paid. Yes, you will be paying your competitor for clicks on your ads, but it may be worth it for the gain in traffic you experience.
You may have seen the infamous “Are you sick of Digitalpoint forums” advert that was targeted to appear on none other than Digitalpoint pages. Whilst there is heated debate over the ethics of such marketing strategies (some call it too aggressive), there is no doubt that it created huge publicity for Wickedfire.
I’ve seen less controversial example of this kind of URL targeting in the appearance of John Chow’s adverts on webmaster-talk, also.

Adsense Trick 2

The above Adsense trick is but one side of the coin. The other side of the coin is the ability to prevent adverts for certain URLs from appearing on your pages. Simply collect a list of offending URLs and enter them in the Adsense Competitive Ad Filter. If no display/destination URL is apparent on the advert, you may need to download and install the Google Adsense preview tool. Once the URL is in the Competitive Ad Filter, adverts for it will no longer appear.

Adsense Trick 3

This Adsense trick is all about the blending of your adverts. As a general rule, Adsense that sticks out like a sore thumb is a Bad Thing. Vistors will usually not click on these ads. Whilst blending the display of the adverts will go some way to giving your whole page a more coherent look and feel, some Adsense publishers go further and disguise their Adsense as navigational links. They do this by doing the following:
  • adopting the same styles for the Adsense that are used for other links on the page. This means using the same font, colour, weight, underline etc.
  • making the background of the Adsense the same colour as the background of the page.
  • making the border the same colour as the page.

Adsense Trick 4

This technique is at the other end of the spectrum to blending adsense: draw the viewer’s attention to the adverts by decorating them. I’ve seen different variations of this method. There is the plain old “look at this” graphic, similar to that seen on the Adsense here. Then there are the more elaborate designs that make it look like the Adsense is actually a part of the image. If you look closely, there is an example of decorated Adsense on this page.

Adsense Trick 5

Use “images only” as the format of your Adsense. Often, when you select Text and image ads for your ad unit, you will get text ads displayed, making the image variety a novelty. Adding image ads to your pages can brighten them up and take the place of graphics you would otherwise add. The only problem with selecting image ads only is that you are then narrowing down the list of advertisers who will display their ad on your site. It could be that there are only one or two advertisers that use this formart – or sometimes none. The best thing to do is try it out and check that you get a good variety of adverts displayed.

Adsense Trick 6

Use link units. This is the forgotten format for Adsense. Link units can blend seemlessly into your page content. Always, the trick is to test, test and test some more. Many use link units because they can be confused with menu navigation, and others even manipulate their navigational links to look like Adsense link units.

Adsense Trick 7

If you create a new colour scheme for your Adsense, save it. This means that you can use it again later, without having to go through the whole rigmarole of determining what colours to use. Even if you think you’ll never use the colour scheme again – save it anyway, just to be on the safe side.

Adsense Trick 8

Always, always, always use different channels for your different websites. If you are trying to sell a websites whose revenue comes from Adsense, interested bidders will insist on you breaking down Adsense figures by channel so that they can know for sure just how much is attributable to the site being sold.
Additionally, it will help you assess how well each of your ad units is performing. If you aren’t monitoring performance, you won’t be able to improve it effectively.

Adsense Trick 9

All those hypnotherapists or salespeople out there will be familiar with the “yes set”. Establish a pattern where the customer gets into the habit of saying “yes”, and then pop the all important question (whatever that may be). The theory is that because the customer has already established the habit of saying “yes”, they are more likely to continue. This Adsense trick establishes a pattern in a similar way, and I’ve seen it used only rarely.
What some publishers do is present a sequence of thumbnail images on their page that are so small that the viewer has to click on them to view the larger version of the image. After the “click to enlarge” habit is firmly installed, the viewer is a little click happy by the time they reach the publisher’s strategically placed image Adsense.

Get to the point! Some ads better in a rough economy

Justify Full
Are consumers likely to be attracted to certain advertisements in periods of economic turmoil? The answer is yes, at least according to Oricom, a local advertising agency.

In a down economy, consumers prefer ads that are rich in content, cheerful and stylish as well as those that get to the point rather quickly and convey a sense of trust, according to an analysis by Oricom. The institute analyzed the top 200 advertisements selected by consumers online (www.TVCF.co.kr) from last October to May, a period when the economy was in the dumps.

Of the 200 ads, 60 percent introduced products directly, and nearly 70 percent highlighted facts about the products. About 15 percent of the ads used entertainment and special effects, and 59 percent used humor.

Based on the analysis, Oricom came up with some tips for companies looking to advertise during a bad economy. For one, businesses shouldn’t be timid in promoting their products, the agency said. Companies like Woongjin Coway and Cuckoo, for instance, aired ads frequently to communicate with consumers.

Businesses also should avoid beating around the bush. Doosan Heavy Industries and Prudential Life Insurance developed well-liked ads centered around the fact that they are the top companies in their sectors.

Consumers also prefer ads that are rich in content, and they want to know the benefits of the products, Oricom said. Also, the company said advertisements should be simple and convey hope. For example, consumers liked the slogan for a Samsung Group ad - “We will make it again” - and one by KB Financial Group, “Tomorrow’s hope.”

“Companies can turn things around by promoting efficient brand marketing ads in a bad economy,” says Hur Woong, director of Oricom’s brand strategy efforts.

How to Promote Your Sites

A call to action is anything you are trying to get people to do on any particular site or page of a site. It could be buying a product or service, getting people on an announcement list or newsletter, or getting people to click on your advertising links.

Most web publishers are so happy when they finally have a site up that they consider their work done and get right to marketing it. Once the traffic rolls in, they enjoy whatever sales or clicks they get and try to make more money by driving MORE traffic to the site.

Then they start building another site. And another. And another.
This is a disturbing trend that is creating a massive amount of waste. Both in resources and time. Especially when it comes to niche publishers who are building massive networks of sites on different topics in order to capture emails, generate advertising revenue, sell affiliated products and services, or to build their lists to generate backend sales to their subscribers.

The waste is generated when people are in too big a hurry to build more sites, add more products, and get more traffic to sites that can convert sometimes 1000% BETTER than they do now.

They are moving at a hectic pace, in this scenario, to build build build, when their income goals can most often easily be met without so much waste.

One example of waste is when someone builds a content-dry site that has nothing but Adsense and some links on it. People hit that kind of site and can't wait to find a reason to leave. The thinking is, "Great! My 'click thru ratio' is sky high! I am getting almost everyone to click on my ads!"

But here's what's happening in reality: you are working VERY hard to get traffic to such a site, only to "burn" it on a 35 cent click! No email capture, no followup, and most importantly no desire on the part of the visitor to EVER see your site again!

Would you rather have someone come through your site and click immediately on an advertiser's link, never to return? Or would you rather have someone come to your site, read some great content, sign up for your list and not click on ANY links that first time?
I will take scenario #2 any day of the week. And I won't have made a single penny off of that person with that initial action. But I will in the future!

If you have a site that you constantly test and tweak for performance (beyond its ability to repulse your visitors into clicking on an advertisement just to get to a QUALITY site) then you have a real business.

You can test and track SO MANY variables to make a site more profitable than it is now. Every site on the web can perform better than it does right now. Every single one!

The people who understand this never stop testing their calls to action to get their visitors to do more than something that results in a one-time action.

Traffic is the most expensive thing on the web both in the time it takes to get it and the resources you have to use up for each and every hit.

The traffic you have now might be all the traffic you EVER need on a daily basis to make a killing with your site. You will never know until you test and track everything about your site.

The headlines, the offers, the opt-in forms, the guarantees, testimonials, bullets, adsense placement, followup... In short, every webmaster on the net has a lot of work to do on every site they own if they really want to reap the kinds of profits their sites are actually capable of pulling in.

Most people get a site up and are happy with the sales or clicks they get and move on. NO! You are leaving so much money on the table thinking you are done with a site right after you put it up.

That site is the worst it should ever be! Wasting another domain fee, hosting fee, bandwidth and the costs associated with getting traffic to a brand new site before you have optimized your current site for the very best conversion it can pull is NOT good business practice
I know people who have literally thousands of domains. And one thing I can guarantee you is this: They are making a pittance, even if they are making $60,000 a DAY, in comparison to what they COULD be making with far fewer sites and more testing and tweaking of that smaller group!

Google PageRank

In the world of blogging, one of the most hunted size of the bloggers is pagerank. Bila blognya memiliki pagerank tinggi mereka akan berbangga diri. If the blog has a high pagerank they will be proud of themselves. Because in the eyes of Google, blogs they are considered more 'important'. Pagerank menjadi salah satu ukuran paling diinginkan karena dikeluarkan Google yang notabene search engine paling banyak dipakai pengguna internet. Pagerank become one of the most desirable measure because it removed the Google search engine that in fact the most widely used internet users.

Kebetulan, beberapa waktu lalu Blog Bisnis Internet dan Motivasi Sukses milik Mas Ali Yusrie, mengucapkan selamat kepada The Next Success Blogger Mas Dafid yang sekalipun blognya baru dalam tahap pre-launch, namun telah mendapat pagerank 2. Incidentally, some time ago Blog Internet Business and Motivation Success Mas Ali's Yusrie, congratulated The Next Success Blogger Mas Dafid a new blog even in pre-launch phase, but it has got pagerank 2. For that, in particular, articles that discuss pagerank is dedicated to the achievements of the Dafid Mas.

Baiklah mari kita kuak segala hal seputar Google PageRank . Well let us croak all things about Google PageRank.

Apa itu pagerank? What is pagerank?
Mungkin sebagian rekan-rekan sudah tahu itu pagerank. Maybe some colleagues already knew that pagerank. But there's nothing wrong when I review some sense pagerank for colleagues who can understand others better.

PageRank is a link analyzer algorithm to determine the level of importance of a blog / web site in Google's eyes. Kata “page” sendiri berasal dari nama salah satu pendiri Google, Larry Page. The word "page" itself comes from the name of one of the founders of Google, Larry Page. Skala angka yang digunakan dari 1 sampai 10. Scale used numbers from 1 to 10. Semakin besar angkanya, maka dianggap makin penting menurut Google. The greater the number, it is considered more important by Google.

One way Google determines pagerank is to consider the incoming link (incoming link). For example as I do the above by placing a link to your blog and Mas Mas Ali Dafid. Bagi keduanya, link tersebut merupakan link masuk. For both, the link is an incoming link. Sedang bagi JokoSusilo.com merupakan link keluar. JokoSusilo.com was for an outbound link. To put it simply could mean, Google is assessing if JokoSusilo.com give "voice" to the blog and DafidRiau.com AliYusrie.com. The more incoming link is received, Google will increasingly take into account the pagerank blog.

And besides the quantity of links, Google also assess the quality of giving "voice". For the avid PageRank, that the above is usually avoided. Mengapa? Why? Because the blog that his pagerank higher provide a link to his pagerank lower. Or in other words, blogs pagerank lower his reputation in the eyes lifted Google, but that his pagerank higher will be captured.

But so far I am not too concerned about it. Most importantly for me, as long as links are linked to provide additional information or memperlengkap information for visitors, it was far more important.

Apa kegunaan PageRank? What is the use PageRank?
Menurut beberapa sumber, makin tinggi pagerank blog anda, robot search engine akan lebih cepat mendatangi blog anda. According to some sources, the higher the pagerank of your blog, search engine robots will more quickly come to your blog. That means the latest postings will appear more quickly in search engines. Pagerank blog is also important for competing in the keywords that the competition level high.

In addition, a high pagerank hunted by those who seek money from blogs by selling links or paid review program. Blog to high pagerank will usually easier to follow these programs and get a higher rate. Still relation to achieve revenue from blogs, blogs pagerank to be used as commodities to be traded.

Bagaimana cara meningatkan PageRank? How do I meningatkan PageRank?
A few tips and tricks raise pagerank has been discussed in the Blog Business Online Mas Zamahsari, Blog Mr. Mung, and Blog JokoSusilo.com. Silakan disimak. Please be listened to.

Terakhir, pesan saya, tak perlu terlalu merisaukan pagerank. Finally, my message, do not be too concerned pagerank. Because sooner or later, you are correct ACTION origin, your blog must have pagerank increases. Sebab, Google pun tak mengupdate pagerank setiap hari, namun rata-rata dalam jangka 3-4 bulan sekali. Because Google did not update the pagerank every day, but on average within 3-4 months. More than that, but not all indicators of measurement known pagerank, I'm sure measurement pagerank algorithm will also continue to grow and change.

Why post classified ads?

Classified ad websites have become popular in the last few years on the Internet. In most cases, you can post ads for free in a multitude of categories from real estate, for sale, pets, automobiles and more. A great alternative to selling in your local newspaper, posting ads online gives you a wider reach, more potential buyers and a new channel of communicating with potential buyers. Here is a brief list of reasons to post classified ads on the Internet:
  1. It’s FREE! This is the best part. All you need is some time to enter information and your ad is live online! No fees, no contracts, no costs!
  2. It’s simple. No telephone calls required or forms to fill for newspaper or magazine ads.
  3. Change your ad anytime. Maybe your ad is not getting the proper response, so go in and make edits and changes when required.
  4. It’s safe. Instead of posting your telephone number, simply have buyers respond to your email address.
  5. Post variations of your advertisement at different locations. Change the message up and see what ad gives you a better responce.

The benefits of posting classifieds ads on the Internet are numerous, whether you are selling locally, nationally or trying to reach international buyers for your products or services.

Simple tips for posting free ads

This section will be developed in further detail, but in the meantime, here are some simple ad posting tips:

  • Always be original. Do not copy and paste someone elses’ ad, write in your own language, tone and style.
  • Make sure you submit your ad to the right category. Classifieds are categorized in various categories, make sure you place your ad in the right category. Some classified websites will delete your post without notice if you do not follow this rule.
  • Do not spam or multiple post. Big no-no that may get your current and future ads banned from the website. (Plus it does not look professional!)
  • If you have a price in mind, post it! Don’t beat around the bush on this one even if some think that you may be asking too much for your product. Your 1967 Mustang may be worth more than the other guy selling halfway across the country!
  • Let people know how you wish to be contacted. Email, telephone, FAX or morse code! Some people may want to contact you, but may be unsure as to how.
  • Specify your quantity if applicable. If you have a warehouse full of widgets, let people know you are open to price discounts or volume pricing.
  • If you have picture or photos, post them! Very important, buyer want to see what you have and pictures sell! It’s hard to describe the house for sale simply by text.
  • Monitor your ads. Maybe you are not getting the response you are looking for at one place, try another.
  • Localize your message. If your service is only offered in your city or state, specify it and let people know the reach of your service business.

Top 10 AdSense Tricks To Boost Your Commission

Google AdSense is fast becoming the preferred way for people to earn an income online. Forget eBay and multiple affiliate programs - Whether you are a work-at-home mom trying to make a little extra cash or an Internet entrepreneur with hundreds of monetized websites, AdSense is truly the easiest way to earn money.

Simply sign up for a free account, grab your ad code and paste it in your site. But here's the amazing thing - no matter how much money AdSense is making for you right now, a few simple tweaks can increase that amount considerably. And I should know, after learning about these tricks, I more than doubled my AdSense commissions!

The self-proclaimed AdSense gurus and experts are sharing this insider knowledge, for a fee. You can learn all these secrets from them, as long as you buy their e-book, sign up for their seminar or purchase their newsletter. But I'm going to share all their AdSense tricks for free.

Here they are:

1) Color code your ads to match your web site palette *exactly*. Don't use frames around your ads. Instead, in the AdSense code generation interface, make sure you choose the same color as your page background for the ad frame and the ad background.

When choosing the ad heading colors, match them to the *exact* color of your page headings. Use the exact same ad background shade as your page background. Use the exact same ad text font and color as the text on your pages. You can see an example of this color-matching on my search engine advice blog notice the 4 link ad unit and skyscraper text ad unit on the left hand side under the headings Ads by Google as you scroll down the page? The link and text colors are identical to the color palette used throughout the rest of the page.

Near enough is NOT good enough. If you can't quite get the color matching right, use Google's built in color palette together with the RGB to HEX or vice versa color converter on this page. That handy little tool was a life saver for me.

This is probably the one single tweak that made the most difference to my commission levels.

2) Try not to use the traditional horizontal banner style or leaderboard image ads because people are blind to them.

3) Use Google's own AdSense optimization tips and visual heat map to assist you in deciding where on your page to place your AdSense ad code.

4) Research competitive keywords using a keyword research tool such as Keyword Discovery or grab a list of the most popular keywords from various sources and use them in your web site pages where relevant. This article is a good source of frequently searched keywords. Targeting popular keywords should trigger AdSense ads on your pages that utilize those keywords. The more popular the keyword or phrase, the higher AdWords advertisers are generally willing to pay per click for it so the higher your commission on those clicks.

5) Incorporate the AdSense code into your page so that the ads look like a regular part of your site. You can see an example of this on the Internet Dating Stories site where link ads are incorporated within the regular left hand navigation of the site under the heading "Feature Links".

6) Use Google's new 4 and 5 link ad units wherever possible. They seem to have a much higher Click Through Rate (CTR) than regular ad styles. You can view all the AdSense ad formats here.

7) Place arrows or images next to your ads to draw attention to them. You can see two different versions of on this search engine article library page at the top (where a pointing hand directs your eye to the ad) and the bottom where 3 images draw your attention to each of the three AdSense ads.

8) Use the full allowance of multiple AdSense ads on each of your pages - 3 regular AdSense ads, plus 1 link unit. Use careful placement of these ads so they blend into your site and don't distract from your content. Clever use of this allowance can be seen on this page about bad Internet dating stories where you see:
- 1 horizontal 4 link ad unit towards the top of the page under the first paragraph - 1 vertical skyscraper text ad unit about halfway down the left hand side under "Sponsor Links" - 1 vertical skyscraper image ad unit down the left hand side under "Sponsor Links" - 1 horizontal text banner unit at the bottom of the page with images above each ad to draw attention to them.
You can also include 1 AdSense referral button in addition to the 3 other units.

Page content that is tailored towards a specific theme is more likely to trigger AdWords ads that closely match the content and are therefore more likely to interest your visitors and inspire them to click. Don't create pages merely for the sake of placing AdSense ads. Visitors (and search engines) can see through this ruse in an instant.

Use custom Ad Channels for each of your ad placements, for example, "Top 5 Link Unit Blue Palette" or "Left Side Navigation Image Skyscraper" etc. Tweak, track and measure the success of each of these custom channels so you know what gives you the highest CTR. Some ad formats and colors will work better than others, but you won't know which until you test, test and test some more!
